Madi & Micah had a beautiful wedding day filled with special touches and the people they love. It was truly an honor for Matt & I to get to be a part of it, and capture it for them. Here are some shots of the awesome details, and the gorgeous bride getting ready!

I LOVED how all of Madi's friends and family gathered around and admired her as she got ready! So sweet!

My cousin Samantha had her adorable baby boy just a short time ago, and I'm proud to say that I had the honor of being the photographer for his first session. Once upon a time, Trisha & Deke had a fairy-tale, wintery, wonderful, Christmas-themed wedding. Trisha is a friend of mine from waaaay back in the high school days (haha). I was lucky enough to be there to capture her & Deke's special day. Here is the long overdue sneak peek!

One of the really special moments of the ceremony is when the dads, grandads, and entire group prayed over Deke & Trisha. It was such an emotional touch!

Madi + Micah...Engaged!

What a fun session! I seriously had a blast getting to know these two and photographing their love. It seemed like every time I turned around, Madi & Micah were goofing around and laughing. Which I love, because what's life without a little silliness?

Their wedding is coming up next summer and they are really a great example of putting their trust in me. I really think their love and personalities show through in the end result. They were up for anything, so we tried some fun and crazy new stuff. And the sunshine that day....was amazing. We even hit up the library for a few shots! Enjoy the preview all! Aaron ~ Senior 2010

So Aaron is another one of my seniors from this year and I think he keeps pretty busy with sports and school. His football team had a great season this year winning district champions, and being featured as a KOAM team of the week. He's a pretty athletic guy and lifts weights and runs track along with the football. We braved a chilly morning to go wander around Jasper for his session. He's a natural in front of the camera, and I found him posing himself part of the time and making my job super-easy! Enjoy the preview and be sure to leave some comment love for Aaron!

(Special shout-out to Dan & Sheri McWilliams for allowing us to shoot part of our session at their Antique & Art store downtown, 100 Grand. They have some really cool stuff in there, plus they own the pizza joint Gem Dandy's as well. If you stop by Jasper be sure to check out both spots so you can see some of Dan's awesome artwork or eat some amazing pizza! I'd recommend the chicken alfredo!)

Ok so one thing I love about small-town sessions is making it look like it didn't happen in a small town....something about this image makes me think it was shot in some back alley of a big city. Nope...Jasper :)

Ok, so maybe it's not quite looking like Christmas yet, but it sure does sound like it when I'm stationed at the computer. That's because holiday music puts me in a super-fun-happy mood, and I'm already listening to it while editing :)

It's NOT too early to start thinking about those holiday sessions/gifts/Christmas cards!!!

That's because it will be here before you know it, and we have deadlines people! If you want photos as Christmas gifts (because what's better than giving someone a beautiful picture of the ones they love?), your session must be scheduled by November 15th!!! That means Book Orders placed by November 22nd and all print orders placed by December 1st!

Hey...I'm not Santa Claus! I want to make sure you have all your photos happily under the tree in time for the big day. That means you better pick up the phone now if you want to schedule a session in time! I have 3 half-price spots left in October, and limited sessions in November. Megan ~ Senior 2010 {Take 2}

So Megan is one of my awesome Senior reps who wanted to do another session closer to the school year. You might remember her from our promo session we did earlier in the year. Let's just say that she ROCKED IT AGAIN!!! She was willing to try some new lighting tricks I've been wanting to try, and she wanted to get a few more intense looks. I loooove how it turned out! So we tried some really cool new stuff with the all important sports pic. Megan is athletic and I think it's safe to say that between Volleyball, Cheerleading, Basketball, Track & Softball she stays pretty busy!

I met Preston a couple weeks ago, and promised him I'd keep his senior session as painless as possible. He was a tough case to crack in the smiling department, but I finally got him to crack a smirk/smile....which if you know Preston, I think we were right on target. Jack is an awesome person. Statement of fact. I'm very lucky to have had the chance to shoot his senior session, and to meet his family. He likes great music, he knows how to rock a photo shoot, and he gave me lots of room for creativity. I had a blast hanging out with him for the afternoon, and trying to push myself to try new things with Jack's ideas for his session. I think with that, I'll let the pictures do the talking. Holly & Ryan ~ Married!

In case you were wondering, the teaser of wedding shoes that I posted previously was from this gem of a wedding. Holly & Ryan have appeared on the blog before here for their engagement session. I have been patiently waiting for their wedding to come at the end of June, and they have been patiently waiting for this preview.

From the beginning, Holly & Ryan were a pleasure to work with, and when Matt & I showed up on wedding day, we were even more delighted to find that their family was just as amazing as they are. The ceremony took place at the beautiful Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, AR. There is a glass chapel in the woods with beautiful lush greenery surrounding it. Winding paths, wooden arches, lake view...just so much to take in for a photographer! We had an absolute blast documenting their day because everyone was just so laid-back, and the whole day was so personal and intimate. There were just a couple dozen or so guests, and a touching ceremony performed by Holly's dad. The reception was then held at Cedar Valley Event Center, back in Jane, MO. A wonderful event filled with beautiful people, and beautiful details. Enjoy!!!

We had a couple of budding photographers following us around part of the time...they were so adorable, and working hard!

First dance

It's not often that I get to play with sunlight by the time the reception rolls around. Long days made this shot extra-fun.

Holly & Ryan opted to have their parents dance to their own wedding songs which I thought was such a fun touch. Holly's parents started it off.

Then Ryan's parents took the dance floor. There is just something magical about love that has stood the test of time, and I think it was such a great tribute to the joining of these two families.

The property at the event center was so pretty and secluded, and even included waterfalls!

Probably my favorites :)

Kyle ~ Senior 2010

Kyle is the little brother of one of my friends from high school. I had a lot of fun catching up with him and his family when we got to shoot his senior session out in the country. As you can see, he brought an awesome car as an accessory to the shoot, and oddly enough, I had a history with the sweet teal mustang. His sister and I actually had some senior pictures taken with it and a few friends back in our day. Pretty cool, huh?

The car is in great shape, and I love this shot that takes you back with the interior.

Old barns are so cool. I love Kyle's look in this one...so intense:

He bravely accepted my suggestion to follow me under the sketchy bridge...I think the results were worth it!

Ashley & Nick ~ The Reception

Ashley was introduced to me by a friend, and contacted me after her wedding in the Caribbean to photograph her reception back home. I'm so very glad they did, because it was a blast to shoot, and I got to meet so many wonderful people!

You can tell Ashley and Nick are well-loved, as there were plenty of friends and family there to support them. It was a beautiful event at the lovely Parrot Bey in Pittsburg, made even more lovely by Justin at The Wild Flower. The event was catered by Chatters, and had a tropical themed menu and drinks. There was no detail forgotten.

Let's not forget that their rowdy group of friends and family knows how to have a great time! I think it's the first time in a long time that I've seen people get so into "You Make Me Wanna Shout" and a train/conga line! Ashley and Nick even let me sneak them away for a few intimate portraits, even though they had their pictures at the wedding. Thanks so much guys! I had such a wonderful time documenting your love and celebration!

Steve ~ Senior 2010

Steve is another one of my Senior reps for the class of 2010. We had lots of fun stuff to work with on his session, since he wanted some with a car (more on that below), and he had lots of different clothes to choose from. That's a great way to really get a variety of shots, because we can try lots of interesting things.

We had a great time, despite the humidity, and Steve is a natural with posing. Every time he sat down, he was already looking spiffy, and I hardly had to give him any pointers. I'm looking forward to showing you guys the rest of the shoot! Enjoy the preview for now :)

Matt & I had the lucky opportunity of photographing young Mr. Wyatt Lynn with his mom and dad. Liz and Nathan are friends of ours, and we couldn't be happier for their new little family. Thanks for welcoming us into your home, and we hope you enjoy the pictures!

You all may notice that there is a lot more black & white images in this post than normal. I think that suits the occasion nicely because you can see all the little details, from tiny fingers and toes, to soft beautiful baby skin. Let us know what you think in the comments section :)

Here is another one of my senior reps! Chris met up with me in Carthage for his session, and we had a blast finding every run-down location we could to shoot at. The images turned out great, and it was fun to switch it up to a guy's session for a change. Kloye is another one of my Senior Reps for this upcoming season. She and I met in Lamar for her session, and let me tell you. It was a hot one! This is a session we did before it got too incredibly hot here in the midwest with Rachelle and her son, Carter. Matt and I had an ABSOLUTE BLAST with these two!! Carter is 4 years old, has attitude, style, and as you can tell from the photos, a whole lot of joy. Rachelle is one of the coolest "moms" I know, and we are very thankful to call her a friend. Look out!! This week we have alot of catching up to do here on the blog, so the goal is a post each day till I'm caught up. The office area is all set up now, and we're ready to rock. I'll post pictures of that project soon! We also have a summer special set to debut by tomorrow, so stay tuned for that. In the mean time, a tribute to dad's day :)

Here's a picture of my dad, Danny, from yesterday for father's day. I think he got some well deserved R&R yesterday afternoon hanging out by the pool. He definitely works hard everyday, so it was his turn for a break. Love you dad! :)

About a week and a half ago, I had the pleasure of visiting these beautiful young ladies for a portrait session. They live on a farm with lots of animals, a couple of which joined us for the photo shoot. The girls were so much fun, and I learned all about their horses, cows, bunnies, dogs and more! So ever since I got Matt his Holga camera for Christmas, we've been going out on little weekend photo adventures every now and again with our trusty plastic cameras. I shoot a Diana, and it's alot of fun to shoot some film work here and there. If you've been on a shoot with us, you know we sometimes break out these toys to get some yummy, dreamy, film-tastic images with them. This is a fun little photo of the two of us from back in the winter out at Morrow Mill. Look closely....Cool huh?

Sean & Stacy...Part 2

This is a very special blog post to me, because it features two very dear friends. Matt & I met up with Sean & Stacy last week to have some fun and get some great shots of an amazing couple. Everytime we hang out with these two we walk away all smiles, and have a great time. They are truly two of the coolest people I know.

Ever since Sean sat across from me on the first day of 3rd grade, I've always been drawn to him. He's one of those people that just makes any situation a blast. No matter where you are, or what you're doing, fun times are had when a little Sean is added. He just graduated college, and is headed to Texas for an internship. (Rock on!) We wish you the best of luck Seano!!!

Stacy is one of those creative and fun-loving people that you can't get enough of. When I would see her around campus in college, I would think "That girl looks so cool!" Little did I know that I would be lucky enough to become friends with her since she started dating Sean. Now I'm blessed to have a creative inspiration to bounce ideas back and forth with. As for the images....I think they speak for themselves!! This is the fewest favorites I could narrow down to, and the most images in a post before! You do the math :)

Alex & Baby + Kendall = Love

Every once in a little while, you are blessed with meeting a person who you needed to meet at that exact moment. A person who gives you something which you cannot exactly put your finger on. For me just recently, that person is Alex.

She exudes strength, and love for those around her. There is beauty radiating from her smile, and a depth in her eyes which is unexplainable. I had the pleasure of photographing her for a mommy session. Her daughter Kendall is such a cutie, and the little boy that was born Friday is lucky to have Alex as a mom. Thank you for letting me into a glimpse of your life. I am so lucky to have met you :)

Megan ~ Senior 2010

Lucky me, this isn't the first time I've photographed Megan. She was a part of the cheerleading squad that I photographed earlier in the year. Megan is a busy girl, and between track, softball, school and the weather, we had a hard time scheduling our session. Fortunately, we found a free afternoon where the sun was shining, and we took advantage of that to get some great images.

Megan has SUCH PRETTY EYES!! They have me captivated in all of these pictures. We had a great time shooting, and we're planning a summer session with some fun in the country. Check back for those later. In the mean time, enjoy the photos below!!!

Brette ~ Sweet 16

Ahh to be 16 again...

Brette rocks my socks off!!! Several things about this session were awesome....Brette's fun and quirky style, her use of props, tagalong sister (Kate) great at producing smiles, willingness to try anything...too much to explain here.

For example, if I said "Hey Brette, ya wanna get in the dumpster in your pretty dress?" (half-joking...half-serious)
She would say, "Sure!"

These guys ROCK MY FACE OFF!! While I was at the workshop, I had the assignment to go photograph a stranger. Lucky me, I walked out of my hotel room to find 3 awesome guys skating in the lot behind it. So big thanks go to Luke, JT, and Cody, for letting me hang out with them for a while, and making some great images.

I seriously had a blast, even though this was outside of my normal comfort zone. Normally, I don't take a whole lot of action pics, but the tricks that these guys were pulling kept me entertained. Those fall into the next post! Let me know what you think guys!

Happening Lately...

So here's the update :)

Last week I ventured to KC for a workshop with Jesh De Rox. I met beautiful people, changed my life in a way that cannot be explained (for the better!), and got a much needed mini-break.

These next three photos are the results of one of the homework assignments to capture the feelings of joy, freedom, and peace. I think I did ok, yes?? Pictured are the beautiful Kelley and Josh!

This little stinker is the not-so-little-anymore Tigger cat. He's growing up! And he's alot more fun without the claws!!!

This is my self portrait homework assignment, that didn't get completed while at the workshop because of my traveling sinus infection. I decided to go ahead and finish it up here at home, and I am really happy with how it turned out! Featuring my new haircut, and attitude :)

Brown-Eyed Girl!

Isn't she a cutie??? Addison is the daughter of one of my great friends, Trisha. She's about 8 months old, and we scheduled a session to capture her all dressed up for Easter. I especially loved the little bow!

Of course, Missouri weather was a challenge, with beautiful sunshine about an hour before our start time, and a tornado watch rolling in by the time we got going. We hurried up to the park before the weather got too bad, and headed back to the house to finish up. Addi was a trooper, and very photogenic with those big brown eyes!

Matt and I went on a little shoot-day trip to Jasper today. It was a beautiful day, and he took some great shots. This was our favorite from right at sunset. What a way to debut on the blog!

He also got a few of me for the new profile pic seen at right, and on facebook. Kudos to him for having patience because photographing another photographer is not always an easy task. Meet Matt.... This is my sweetie posing for a test of the new flashes and camera. As you can see, he's got the model look down! We are all set for my cousin's wedding coming up in a week, with the arrival of our new equipment. Can't wait to post new stuff to show you what we've got!

Those eyes!!!!

These are a few shots from an afternoon of shooting with one of my favorite subjects, Douglas. He is my cousin's son, and a cutie pie. (obviously!) The entire session was shot with my new 85mm 1.2 lens.....which I am in love with!

Douglas is such a smart young man. He knows some sign language already, and likes to pound out some music on the piano. I'm positive he's a child genius :) Mathew & Emma-Thanks for letting me meet up at your house, and borrow your kid! Enjoy the sneak peek!

I'm getting old.....Kierstin is 8 years old! I used to babysit her and her brothers, but she's growing up fast. We met for a session in Jasper last week, and had a blast. She's one of those kids who knows how to pose perfectly for the camera, and is never lacking in expression. When I asked her to give me attitude, I sure didn't have to ask twice! Long awaited....I know.

So here is the rockin' couple I was talking about previously. Holly & Ryan met me and my lovely assistant (my mom!) last week in Carthage for their Engagement session, and I couldn't be more excited about how their pictures turned out. They were up for anything, and had a great presence in front of the camera. Naturals for sure! We even got to play with the new lensbaby. The brown tone photo is a result of this tool, and I love how it turned out....soft focus and dreamy :)

These are a few of my favorites, but far from all of them. I can't wait to show you guys the rest! Stay tuned for their beautiful June wedding. As you can tell from their style, you're in for a treat!

Okay, so I couldn't resist posting the rest of the Ball pet family. Pictured are Frisky, Buster, and Daisy, who still live at my parents house. Aren't they handsome??? Go adopt a pet now and make a difference to a fluffy friend, and live longer! (There IS scientific proof!)

Also.....I'm super-excited to post the session that I shot today! It was beautiful, sunny, breezy, and I had a rockin' couple to shoot for engagements. I told them a week before their teaser would be up, but hopefully I tear through the edits sooner. There should be some really fun, unique images, because I got to play with my new toy, the Lensbaby. Hey guys! I was shooting in the gorgeous weather today and took a few pictures of my dogs and cats. It reminded me to post a little note about our pets being part of the family. I don't know about the rest of you, but there's nothing better than coming home to a furry friend that wants to hop in your lap, or give you a big sloppy animal kiss. (I don't like the kisses, but I know you're out there) So until I can get a few more edited, here's a shot of Tigger, my little kitten, from a month or so ago. I'm going to need a few more pet models coming up shortly for a fundraiser that I'll be doing for the Humane Society in a few months. Let me know if you're interested!
